C4 PTS News #13 - Warlock Skill Enchanting

The Warlock 3rd class change quest has been broken for the duration of PTS, however an option to change to 3rd class was added to the PTS helper NPC's. This allowed me to complete the quest and become an Arcana Lord. I do not have the quest reward book so I can not actually enchant my skills.

I have some screen shots of the dialogs from the enchant skill conversation with a trainer.

This first shot is the text that explains the enchanting process.



The next 3 are the list of skils and the ways they can be enchanted.





The next 5 shots are examples of the types of enchants that can be added to a skill. Once a particular enchant is added to a skill, another type can not be added.

C4 PTS News #12 - Warlock Tattoos

I crafted the following Tattoos:

• +4 Con -4 Str
• +4 Wit -4 Int
• +4 Men -4 Int

Con is very important in C4 with the addition of Pet Soul Shots. The increased weight limit from the con increase helps a lot. You can find more speciffic about what I can carry in an older post.

C4 PTS News #11 - Summon SoulShot Usage

At lower levels the summons use 1SS per hit. By 76 it becomes 5 SS per hit, I'm not sure at what levels the amount consumed changes.

I replied to a thread on this topic at L2pets.com, here is my reply.

This is the gear/tatoo setup I have selected on PTS. It's the same on live except for some Tatoo's need to fix and I have an Elysian Axe instead of the Basalt hammer. IIRC S grade shots are the same weight as A grade shots.

I'm at 46% in my inventory. I could probably carry another 5,000 pet SS but I don't because I'd hate to lose them if I die.

I am spamming pet SS and my SS while I hunt because I'm hunting in the new areas with 2x and 3x hp mobs. In my 60's on live after C4 launches, I'm going to try to keep my SS off because I tend to hunt 1x hp mobs most of the time.

I will run out of SS a bit before my pet does so some more tweaking of the inventory needs to happen but carrying those quanties I've never actually run out of any shots before I SoE for some other reason.

C4 PTS News #8 - PTS Unavailable

The PTS went down on friday afternoon due to an exploit. Due to the PTS being down all weekend I was unable to gather any useful Warlock stats. I'll Include the official comments from Mistryl at NCSoft.

From Friday Afternoon:

A player abused an exploit on the Public Test Server this afternoon that generated over-enchanted weapons and other unnaturally obtained items. This exploit does not affect the live servers and your account security is not at risk.

In response, we have brought down the PTS for maintenance. Those items will be removed from player inventories during this maintenance. If you had any of these items in your inventory, you are not at risk for disciplinary action unless you used an exploit to obtain them.

There is currently no ETA for the return of the Public Test Server. We will post more information as it is available.

From Monday Afternoon:

The Public Test Server will return to service at 12:30 PM PST [1/23/2006].

All items that were unnaturally obtained by exploit have been removed from player inventories and warehouses. If you exchanged your weapons or other items for a removed item, we are not offering compensation or reimbursement. No rollback of the server has been performed.

The community server is currently unavailable.

We thank our players on the Public Test Server for testing Chronicle 4! Please continue to report your bugs here on the message board or through the Support web site.

C4 PTS News #7 - Nightshade Info

I hit 56 tonight and got my hands on the Nightshade. I haven't had a chance to party with it but I took it out solo for a bit. The debuff/hate spell is enough to pull hate off me and it casts very fast.

It's patk is pathetic but it has great hp. A PS could solo 1x hp mobs with this pet but would be a bit lacking on DPS. It's going to take some thinking to find the right situation to use this pet. I suppose as a tank for a group with out one. In a group with a tank, soulless is my preference.

Nightshade's Heal spell is quite amazing I think. It healed me for 763 with Pet BSPS. It will heal the targeted person.

C4 PTS News #6: Questions Answered

I was sent this list of questions and I've made an attempt to answer them after leveling my Phantom Summoner to 52. There are a few unanswered questions that I am still working on finding the answers for. I will update this post as I find them.

1- Summon + Pet at the same time?
if yes.. your first impressions on it ?
Nope, not possible.

2- Gate camping abilities: can you still atk ppl with the servitor while being inside the town (referring to the summoner and servitor placed in the same state now).
You can at the race track. I haven't tried it at a town gate yet.

3- Regular cubic timer still the same?
Yes.

4- Mass cubic applies to the Servitor?
No.

5- Can you "chain" mass cubic (1 party after the other), Mass cubic reuse time lenght?
Reuse is just like any other cubic. Chaining is possible.

6- Cubic overall reactions (trigerring rate, white players atk abilities, ect..)?
They seem to be the same as C3.

7- Anti-Sleep/Suicidal issue: can your Servitor atk you?
No

8- Any change on the pk/pvp side?
- Does a player still turn pinkish if he pk your Servitor
- Full penalty upon death from a servitor even while at war or outside Siegezone, still true?

9- Any weight issue with the Servitor ss/sps/bsps
Not really. Weights are as follows: 1/2/2. I'm carrying 4500 PSS, 25 PBSPS, 25 PSPS, 2000 CSS, 1000 CBSPS, 25 heal pots,
2 haste pots and ranomd items I've picked up hunting. I'm at about 49.00% with those items. A decision about how to split the amount of each type of SS will have to be made based on hunting style. So far it seems that hunting with pet SS on auto and my SS off is a lot faster then mine on and it's off (C3 style). My weapon is a +3 Dark Screamer with focus.

10- Servitors from all races still have the same basic stats?

11- Upgrade on our debuff spells abilities..like a new level of spell but a same intensity?
No changes to our skills below 76 except for the addition of mass summon cubics and the new summons. The new cubics are avialable at 40, the new summons become available at 56.

12- Pinkish Unicorn moves its wings or are they just freakin' static?

13- 4th Servitor CLEAR AND DETAILED information: Intensity, levels, numbers , ect.. usefullness?


I'm not testing the non-summoner pets, hopwefully someone else can give these answers.

C4 PTS News #5

When I logged onto PTS tonight my character was a level 76 Dark Wizard.

I talked to the PTS Helper Cat and changed to Spellhowler and ran off to the DE guild in Giran to add my sub class, Phantom Summoner. When I became a PS I receieved all skills upto and including level 40 skills.

The GM's left a nice pile of loot in our inventory.

• 15 Enchat Armor C
• 4 Enchant Weapon C
• 2 Red Soul crystals (5,7)
• 2 Green Soul Crystals (5,7)
• 2 Blue Soul Crystals (5,7)
• 5000 C grade Crystals (I didn't think of taking an exact count so this is an estimate)
• 15000 D grade Crystals (same as above, I don't recall the exact count)
• Karmian Gloves
• Demon's Gloves
• Theca Boots
• Mithril Boots
• Chain Hood
• Chain Shield
• Composite Helmet
• Composite Shield
• 60,000 C grade Soul Shots
• 20,000 C grade Blessed Spirit Shots

With all those goodies I was able to equip my PS with Theca set using the composite helmet, demon's gloves and composite shield. I had enough crystals to purchase top shop C jewelery and a top C weapon. I chose the Dark Screamer dagger.

My other 2 accounts of simularly equipped characters except the SE has Karmian set and Dual Stormbringers. My Warcryer has the same armor as the PS but is using a Silver Axe. Mostly for looks, I hate the look of the other mid C axe available at the shop. I also liked the haste SA although I haven't applied it yet.

After hot keys and gear were setup on the 3 characters, I met up with Zefra (a PS main/AW sub) and hit a necropolis for some XP and seal stones. We all reached level 42 between 35-50%. My PS has slightly less xp due to using the Soulless summon although it was quite good due to the C4 change where soulless only consums 10% xp at 40.

Some observations:

• Level 40 Soulless uses 2 pet SS per hit, 1 SPS per magic attack. Comes out to 48a per hit. On sieghardt CSS is about 17a each. For C grade, if you have a 2SS weapon, use your SS instead of pet SS for better use of money per hit.
• Level 40 Soulless uses 5 C crystals for it's lifetime. 1 to summon, 4 more after that at the typical intervuls. You gain 20% more xp then in C3, but it's quite a bit more expensive then the old D crystal cost.
• Level 40 party cubic costs 8 d crystals. The level 40 spark cubic costs 5 d crystals.

I only took one screen shot tonight. Most of the night was purchasing gear and setting up. You can see the Soulless' stats and my stats. The soulless has level 40 SE buffs and I have level 40 SE + level 40 Warcryer buffs.

Over the weekend I hope to get around to answering some of the questions I've receieved about summoner's in C4. There are some I can't answer until I'm higher level but I'll try to keep feeding some juicy bits as I level.

C4 PTS News #4

I found another Post by XaenQA:

Your main class will not receive anymore skills than you have earned. The cats will merely switch you to the second class as well as provide certain items. When you choose your subclass (the subclass quest is set as complete so all you must do is find the appropriate trainer) you will obtain all the skills of the level 40 subclass.

I find this rather disapointing. I hoped the main class would be playable but it appears it will not be with out serious SP farming. Looks like I will have to farm some SP on my dwarf to be able to buy the C grade Crystalize skill.

For those of you whom have had trouble with the PTS updater, NCSoft has finally released a full C4 PTS installer. More details here.

C4 PTS News #3

The following was posted by NCSoft's XaenQA:

The boost on the Public Test Server was originally scheduled for this Wednesday; however, as we want to allow as many players the opportunity as possible to participate in high end testing, we will be moving the boost date back to Thursday at 9am PST. The goal of this boost is to allow y’all to test the high end content in Chronicle 4. Our boost will bump the highest level character on your account to level 76 (no SP will be given), remove all active quests, set “Mimir’s Elixir” quest to complete, and provide the appropriate items needed for a level 40 subclass.

Once this boost has been run you will need to speak to the Test Server Helper Cats which will be arriving in the towns after the downtime. They will allow you to choose your second class and sell useful items such as spellbooks, and recipe components. Once you have done this you will proceed to the Grandmaster and select the subclass of your choice.

You should now be nicely outfitted to go forth and adventure, and test as a level 40 subclass. Once you have reached level 75 as a subclass we encourage you to become a Noblesse, and take part in all things associated with it.

Typical of NCSoft and being just vague enough to fuel the rumor mill, I can not tell if skills from 75 and below will be given to the main class. Choose your main class carefully.

I am working out a plan on how I will proceed in each outcome, I will post it here soon.

C4 PTS Plan

Based on what NCNA is saying about their intentions for the boost on Thursday I came up with a "plan of attack". I've also posted this on the L2Pets forum.

My "main" on PTS is a level 23 Dark Wizard so I can't answer questions about 40+ summoner skills.

Since I have 3 accounts, I plan on applying the class change to my dwarf first and see if any 40+ skills appear for main class. If they do, then I plan on having a warlock and phantom summoner main and possibly an ES sub on my dwarf.

I'm unsure what the other 2 characters will sub. I'm considering Sorcerer and Tyrant.

If the main class is given no skills 40+ then I plan on making my Dark Wizard and SH and sub PS. My human mystic will go Warlock and sub Tyrant or Sorcerer.

I do not expect to have any more significant news until after my play time on Thursday night.

C4 PTS News #2

I completed my level Dark Wizard quest and grabbed the Summon Shadow book right away. I headed over to the pet manager to buy some pet/servitor shots.

At 24a per shot, I believe pet SS will come out significantly cheaper then A/S grade SS spamming.

I hunted the eyes (2x hp mobs in C4), Bugbears, and orcs. The shadow was able to solo all the mobs with SS. I even let it tackle 2 bugbears and with SS the Shadows HP didn't drop below 75%. With out SS the damage reminds me of the old wizard summons, barely useful and not worth using except for recharge.

Besides the nice pet damage with SS, the other change I noticed is that the shadow takes an extra swing even after the mob has run away, doing 1 extra hit of damage before following. Any pause in the mob's movement and the shadow took a swing and hit. This seems to be a highly improved summon attack during movement behavior compared to what we are use to in C3.

I haven't tested this in a pvp situation but I will soon.

C4 PTS News #1

I finally got my PTS client updated. I created a Human Mystic to test out C4 Warlock changes. Only level 6 for now. I also have a Dark Elf Mystic going Phantom Summoner. I have 2 accounts so hopefully I'll have 2 high level characters for test when they apply the bonuses. I'll share stats and my observations about C4 summoner changes.

A New Year

With the holidays past and returning to work it took about a week to readjust to the old routine.

I don't have any pvp related stories that are worth sharing but there is a bit of important news.

Lineage 2 Chronicle 4 PTS is online. I spent Sunday trying to update the PTS client but the update server likes to crash a lot.

The update is about 80% complete so hopefully I'll be able to hop on the PTS for a couple hours tonight.

My focus will be summoner changes and the new content. I plan on creating a Phantom Summoner. Why PS? Well, I hate Talking Island and I want to try the "dark side" of summoners.

I'll post observations and screen shots once I get some time in on PTS.
